Seychelles Consult donates equipment to Badminton Federation
The Seychelles Consul to Malaysia Mr. Kabilan Muniandy donated a batch of equipment to the Seychelles Badminton Federation on Monday afternoon at the School Meals Centre Gym in a small ceremony.
The handing over took place in the presence of the Principal Secretary for Youth and Sports Mr. Ralph Jean-Louis who was instrumental in coordinating this donation through close collaboration and cooperation that exist with the Consul.
The Seychelles Badminton Federation Vice Chairman Steve Malcouzanne accepted the donation from Mr. Kabilan and PS Jean-Louis on behalf of the Federation in front of the local coaches and Players.
When he addressed the audience, PS Jean-Louis highlighted the good cooperation between his department and the Seychelles Consul to Malaysia over the last two years which is creating opportunities for Youths in sports and other areas such as agriculture.
<On behalf of the Sports Ministry, we would like to thank Consul Mr. Kabilan for this generous donation. Mr. Kabilan is a keen Badminton coach who is eager to promote this sport in our country. He has even come up, after negotiation with an interesting program, which we have put to the Badminton Federation to help our team’s preparation for the CJSOI Games.
As for Mr. Kabilan, he spoke about his first visit when he saw how he could assist with such donation and other technical expertise.
“After visiting you last time, I could see your needs and this is what I have brought in this donation. I felt I should be part of this development and I know I can do more to develop this sport in the next two years. But of immediate use, I saw that these are some equipment that is much needed to help you in training and competitions,” Mr. Kabilan claimed.
The honorary Consul added that he hopes that these equipment will motivate the players and he plans for bigger things in the near future and he also thanked whole-heartedly the Department of Foreign Affairs for their continuous support.
For his part, the chairperson of the Badminton Federation Mr. Malcouzanne, he expressed his gratitude to Mr. Kabilan for such a timely donation and reassured him that it was going to be of great help.
The batch of equipment comprised of shoes, socks, strings, racket, bags, and shuttlecock, which would be beneficial in the team’s preparation for the regional Youth games in August.
